NAMA Cards

Alien Symbols

After running the recieved radio transmission through a spectograph the findings were of huge interest to the investigation, and thw whole team involved. The spectograph revealed images that have been embedded within the transmission. These are the images that we have as of yet isloated, and at this point the 'symbols' are alien to our understanding.

Satalite Image

This Satalite image was taken above an area of the Bermuda Traingle isolated after research was collated regarding missing planes and ships. The land formation is as yet unclassified. Strange markings can be seen from the image, mirroring one of the symbols found when researching the radio transmission recived earlier in this investigation.

Nama Logo

These are some drawings and mock ups of possible NAMA logo designs (the last design being the chosen logo). We decided to base the 'a' on the original NASA typeface, and the 'n' and 'm' are based on the sails of a ship. Its very simple, but it works for now.

The Lost Posters

These are the screen print posters we made from our drawings, charting ships an planes that have gone missing. We used Palantino for the text, and based the composition on old natural history type sea creatures posters. We screened with white ink onto a few differnent colour pieces of A1 card, this is the royal blue. We plan to extend the series with a 'Lost People' poster, with a slection of people who have gone missing in the bermuda triangle.

Planes and Ships

We spent a whole week just drawing planes and ships for a screen print poster we want to make about the planes and ships that have gone missing in the Bermuda triangle. Here are some of the drawings we've done.

Maritime Museum

The idea of presenting the information we create and design as a sort of investigation means that the actual ways in which we are saying we have aquired information has to also be planned. We are not visiting this country in the beggining, in fact we are not certian what is there to begin with. So the 'evidience' will have to be found objects or documents, like artifacts washing up on the shore, or found photographs or wreckage. To get a better idea of what sort of things these could be we took a trip to the Martime Museum. Saw lots of measuring instruments, compases', insignias, and these kind of etched globes which were really interesting. Also saw a some really good things on whirlpools and waves, which got us thinking alot too. Kind of got sidetracked by a chinese new year preformance there. We also went to the observatory, interesting objects there to do with time and space. Best thing we saw all day was a drawing of a whale washed up on the shore, look for the man measuring the dead whales massive penis.

Research

Started thinking about ways in which the to present our design work. Looked into perhaps presenting as a type of investigation, possibly an agency that is investigating the emergence or reports of a country based somewhere within the Triangle. Researched various agency's, as well as scientific organisations such as NASA to get an idea of a particular type of visual language which might be appropriate for our presentations and designs. Looked into logos, photographs, ways they display or document information, and insignias or mission patches (which we are quite interested in).

The Beginning

The group started off by looking at conspiracy theories, taking interest in the contrast between fact and fiction within various conspiracies. The image making oppurtunities were also too good to avoid, so after discusion it was decided to base our design on the Bermuda Triangle thoeries. These are some images taken from a small research zine that was made for the first presentation, intended to give some visual references that were to be our starting point.
